Hi. I'm Matt, and this is my site.

I've been an Octopus Energy customer for a while now. I switched from one of the big six suppliers after getting frustrated with rising bills, terrible customer service, and the general feeling that my energy company couldn't care less whether I stayed or left. Octopus was different. Better prices, actually good customer service, and a bunch of smart tariffs that let me save money by being a bit clever about when I use electricity.

When I realised how many people were still overpaying with other suppliers, I figured I'd put together a site that explains what Octopus offers, breaks down the tariffs in plain English, and gives people an easy way to switch. If you switch through my referral link, we both get £50 credit on our energy bills.

I want to be completely upfront about how this works.

Octopus Energy runs a refer-a-friend programme. Every existing customer gets a unique referral link. When someone signs up to Octopus using that link, both the new customer and the person who referred them receive £50 in energy credit. That credit goes towards your bills. It's not cash, and it can't be transferred or withdrawn.

So when you use the referral link on this site, you get £50 and I get £50. That's the deal. No hidden terms, no small print surprises. The £50 is the only financial benefit I receive from this site.

I built this site because I think Octopus is genuinely good, and the referral credit is a nice bonus for putting in the effort. That said, I've tried to make every page useful on its own. The tariff guides, the switching information, the calculator tools. Even if you decide not to use my link (or decide Octopus isn't for you), I hope you found something helpful here.

What this site is not

This is not an official Octopus Energy website. I'm not employed by Octopus, I don't work for them, and they haven't paid me or asked me to build this. I'm just a customer who had a good experience and figured it was worth sharing.

All the opinions on this site are my own. When I say something is great about Octopus, I mean it. When I point out things that could be better, those are real frustrations I've had as a customer. I'm not going to pretend everything is perfect just because I have a referral link.

Accuracy

I do my best to keep everything on this site current and correct. Tariff rates come from the official Octopus Energy API, so they should reflect what's actually available. That said, energy prices change regularly, new tariffs come and go, and terms can be updated without notice. Always check the Octopus Energy website directly before making any decisions about switching.
